Sligo<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Year:<\/strong> 2016-ongoing<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Client:<\/strong>\u00a0Dr. Dirk Brandherm, Queen&#8217;s University Belfast<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Funding:<\/strong> Royal Irish Academy Grant (2016, 2017)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Aim:<\/strong>\u00a0The purpose of the geophysical surveys was to assess hut sites on the plateau of Knocknashee, a hillfort complex which also contains two Passage Tombs. In 2016 the entire hillfort interior &#8211; more than 20 ha in size &#8211; was assessed with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/magnetic-susceptibility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Magnetic Susceptibility<\/a>\u00a0to identify zonations of activity. Specific clusters of huts and enclosures were further investigated with high resolution <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/magnetometry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Magnetometry<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/earth-resistance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Earth Resistance<\/a> surveys. The 2017 survey used the &#8216;Earthwalker&#8217; Magnetometer array across the southern half of the plateau and targeted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/metal-detection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Metal Detection<\/a> surveys.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Knocknashee_MS_SR.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1194\" src=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Knocknashee_MS_SR.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"494\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Social Media:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Knocknashee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Knocknashee Archaeology Project Facebook Page<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Outcomes:<\/strong> The 2016 geophysical survey results are currently being written up for publication in a future edition of <em>Emania<\/em>.
