It&#8217;s certainly been a year of changes. We were joined by Dr Rob Fry on a number of projects (including the largest we&#8217;ve ever worked on) in the Spring, when we invested in new staff and the latest state-of-the-art geophysical instruments and soil analysis equipment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-549 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015_2-255x300.jpg\" alt=\"Earthsound2015_2\" width=\"255\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015_2-255x300.jpg 255w, http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015_2.jpg 414w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/>We&#8217;ve worked on some fantastic projects this year, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/2015\/10\/16\/woodstock-castle-athy-co-kildare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Woodstock Castle<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/category\/places\/athy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Athy<\/a>), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leacastle.ie\/p\/home_11.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lea Castle<\/a>, the Kinsale Battlefield Project, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/382645111801935\/photos\/pcb.930828130316961\/930826236983817\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wonderful Barn<\/a>, the Dowth Estate, we returned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Rathnadrinna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rathnadrinna Royal Fort<\/a> and we&#8217;ve worked with the School of Irish Archaeology at their amazing new urban outreach project <a href=\"http:\/\/dublinuncovered.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dublin Uncovered<\/a>, based in the Liberties.\u00a0In April we worked in partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/itsligo.ie\/study-at-it-sligo\/undergraduate\/archaeology\/archaeology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IT Sligo Applied Archaeology<\/a> students to survey part of the monastic enclosure at Drumcliff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As well as our conventional geophysical surveys for both private sector and research projects, we&#8217;ve also carried out\u00a0metal detection surveys and developed our soil analysis services: we&#8217;ve collected soils across medieval enclosure complexes (which we&#8217;re in the process of analysing, using a variety of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/index.php\/geochemical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">geochemical<\/a> and geoarchaeological techniques) and extensive geophysical and geoarchaeological soil\u00a0analyses of the &#8216;mysterious pit fields of Roscommon&#8217; with <a href=\"https:\/\/sligoleitrimarchaeologicalservices.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sligo-Leitrim Archaeological Services<\/a>. We&#8217;ve also launched our new digitizing service. \u00a0Over the last few months, you&#8217;ll have been as likely to find us in the field carrying out geophysical surveys as you would to find us auguring, coring or back at the office grinding soils or digitising plan and section drawings.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-552 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015.png\" alt=\"Earthsound2015\" width=\"891\" height=\"571\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015.png 891w, http:\/\/www.earthsound.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Earthsound2015-300x192.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 891px) 100vw, 891px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We&#8217;ve also been out and about on the conference circuit.
